On Thursday, C2 got his driver's license. He was ecstatic! He and his dad called to tell me the good news. C2 said, "Mom, I wanted to be at the commuter lot to pick you up as a surprise, but dad said I have to be on the insurance before I can drive alone."
Insurance? Oh, no! Our car insurance is going to increase! It's not like I didn't know this would happen. My husband and I have talked about it on and off at least since C2's 16th birthday. But did we ever call the insurance company to ask how much it would increase? Of course not. That would have made too much sense. Planning for the increase in our auto insurance is budgeting. Go figure?
I knew this was coming, but I just didn't see it coming. Does that make this a Ninja Bill?

Congrats to your C2!
100% certified Ninja :)
IF you forget they are in the garden they can attack too! When shopping, if C2 has good (B+) average, make sure to get Good Student discount. My daughter (D1?)just turn 15. State Farm has a discount level that can save nearly 40%.
weathly_1,
I can so identify with this! The Daughter will be eligible to test for her license in another 2 months. When she got her permit I called our insurance only to find out (to my delight) that we don't have to pay for her coverage until she's driving on her own. I guess I should give them a call on Monday and find out what the damage is going to be. I dread the day we have to pay for coverage for The Son. I've heard boys cost about 3 times what girls do. Can that be true?
Probably a ninja bill. Has he looked into defensive driving classes? Also see what kind of positive effect his good grades have.
Thanks to all for the support!
We're all hooked up. We wouldn't let him get his license without driver's ed. That in itself helps keep the insurance cost down. When we put him on one of the questions asked is about the student's grades. He doesn't like to study, but he manages to stay on the honor roll. I just reminded him yesterday that driving is a privilege. Grades go down, driving goes away.
What's a ninja bill? I'm sort of guessing that it is one that sneaks up on you...
I've gone through this twice with my older daughters. Now that they are away at college, insurance is down, college tuition up....hmmmmmm, does it ever end?
Sharon, I wonder the same thing!
